Why is it harmful to aquatic life?

Even worse than it is for you and me, water pollution is largely affecting aquatic life.
Marine life is only about 50% of what it used to be and that is mainly due to water pollution.
Here's how it works: Water is polluted by various things (ie. waste, oil, chemicals). A certain type of fish decides to ingest or eat something in the polluted environment and unfortunately passes away. This continues with the same species of fish until eventually, there are none left? So, now what? The larger fish that relied on the extinct fish as a food source is out of lunch. They go hungry and eventually die causing another species to go extinct. This fatal cycle continues until virtually the entire ecosystem is destroyed.
Thanks water pollution.
